Wednesday Morning Learning, 9:15 am, via Zoom – New Series begins May 8. Join Rabbi Caruso for a look back at the origins of our beloved synagogue-community, dating back from 1839 to the present day. We will travel back in time, exploring the 19th century migration of German Jewry to the United States, examining the growth of American Reform Judaism, and study the role our temple has played in the evolution of Jewish Cleveland. We may even have a few special guests for a session or two.

CANTOR VLADIMIR LAPIN PERFORMS BLOCH’S SACRED SERVICE (Avodath HaKodesh) May 2 and May 5
Our Cantor Lapin has been chosen to perform this beautiful work alongside the Kent State University Orchestra and Choirs on both May 2 and May 5, 2024! Ernest Bloch’s composition Sacred Service (Avodath HaKodesh) stands as a monumental work within the realm of Jewish liturgical music and the broad history of music composition.

This meeting, offered in person and live-streamed, will be led by our Board President Michele Krantz and include an opportunity to thank you, our temple members, for your generosity to the Sarah J. Sager Cantorial Chair Endowment Fund, established at her 2020 retirement; the presentation of the  President’s Award to Julie Adler Raskind; and honor our Past Presidents, and Life and Honorary Trustees.

NEW ADULT LEARNING SERIES, VIRTUAL via Zoom
ANSHE CHESED FAIRMOUNT TEMPLE: A RETROSPECTIVE

HAVDALAH AND SONG SESSION
Saturday, May 18, 6 pm –Havdalah is a brief ritual concluding Shabbat. It is an intimate service touched by sensory experiences and beautiful easy to learn melodies. Cantor Vladimir Lapin will be joined by other song leaders for a Havdalah ritual and joyful song session. Join us in person or virtually through our temple live stream.

UPCOMING CARING COMMUNITY OPPORTUNITIES
Organize Clothing and School Supplies, Wednesday, May 8, 1-4 pm
Help our temple community support Shoes and Clothes for Kids, a wonderful organization founded by Fairmount Temple’s devoted member, the late Morrie Sayre, z’l. Volunteers will sort and organize new shoes, clothing, and school supplies to get them ready for distribution to needy K-8 Cleveland students. Shoes and Clothes for Kids is located at 15500 S. Waterloo Road.

Spread Joy with Flowers, Friday, May 10, 10:30 am – 12:30 pm
Join Temple volunteers at BigHearted Blooms, 5122 St. Clair Ave., to repurpose discarded flowers from weddings or stores into new arrangements that will be delivered to people in hospitals or nursing homes.

Help us Honor our Jewish Veterans, Sunday, May 26, 9:30 am
Join volunteers and clergy from both Anshe Chesed Fairmount Temple and The Temple-Tifereth Israel at Mayfield Cemetery to plant American flags on the graves of our veterans. After a very brief memorial service, volunteers will be given flags and maps to help find the almost 500 graves. All generations are welcome to participate in this mitzvah of remembrance.

SHAVUOT  YIZKOR MEMORIAL SERVICE
Tuesday, June 11 – Join us for the Yizkor Memorial worship service on the festival of Shavuot which will be led by Robert Nosanchuk and Cantor Kathy Sebo of The Temple-Tifereth Israel. The June 11 Shavuot Yizkor Memorial Service will be preceded at 5:30 pm with a pre-service oneg and a clergy-led study session. The Yizkor Memorial Service will begin at 6:15 pm. This service will be an intimate gathering of those mourning loved ones during the holiday marking the gift of our heritage of Torah. This Memorial Service will be hosted at Fairmount Temple in the Bonda Chapel, and it will be jointly sponsored with our partners at The Temple-Tifereth Israel.

Fertility Support Group –
Recognizing that infertility is a difficult journey for many, this monthly Fertility Journey Support Group is an opportunity for those experiencing fertility challenges to feel support and strength from each other. Bayit Circle: Establishing a Jewish Home in Community – Have you wondered what it means to create a Jewish home? Join together with other folks establishing Jewish homes to learn more about what it means to reflect your Jewish identity at home, from physical markers like a mezuzah to rituals marking Jewish moments and beyond. This circle is great for people who are single, moving in together, engaged or married, and/or in interfaith relationships.
