Refuge Shabbat Service - Streamed and Zoom
March 5, 2021 –
Fairmount Temple will participate in Refugee Shabbat, a program co-sponsored by the synagogues in the Union for Reform Judaism and HIAS (formerly known as Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society). During Shabbat worship led by our clergy, we will dedicate time and space to the plight of refugees and asylum seekers. Our guest speakers on March 5 will include Pastor John Lentz, Co-Pastor of the Forest Hill Presbyterian Church in Cleveland Heights. Forest Hill is a partner institution with us in GCC and has served as a sanctuary congregation, currently to three refugees from Burkina Faso in Africa. We will also hear from Raphael Marcus, Senior Vice President for Programs at HIAS, helps drive HIAS’ mission to protect refugees, support host communities and help forcibly displaced populations to access their rights.
If you would like to participate in the service via Zoom, please email please email Jenny Marmaros at Jmarmaros@fairmounttemple.org - by 2 pm on Friday. She will send the Zoom log-in info.
The service is also live-streamed here, Friday, 6:15 pm, without logging in: https://www.fairmounttemple.org/worship/live-stream/
You can also watch on ROKU Fairmount Sanctuary channel (free download) and on the temple's Facebook page.
