Addressing Social Justice in Our Community, Wednesday, Oct. 30, 7 p.m.
Fairmount Temple’s Greater Cleveland Congregations’ (GCC) Core Team invites you to learn more about GCC’s work on criminal justice reform at a special all-temple gathering on Wednesday, Oct. 30, 7 p.m. in the Simon Lounge.
Get an inside look at GCC's ongoing efforts to bring increased mental health crisis resources to Cuyahoga County. Overcrowding in the county jail has led to inhumane conditions, and even inmate suicides, with a disproportionate impact on the African-American community. Approximately one-third of those sent behind bars can receive help in a mental health or addiction treatment center,
reducing jail overcrowding and addressing inmates’ primary needs.
GCC leaders, Donna Weinberger, Criminal Justice Coordinator, and temple member, Marcia Levine, LISW, will address the origins of this public health crisis, and how national and local solutions have fallen short in meeting the needs of a growing problem. Finally, Donna and Marcia will share the exciting developments of GCC’s recent work in this area, and how you can be a part of the solution.
Come learn how the GCC and meet fellow congregants also concerned about these issues. To learn more or RSVP, please reach out to Rabbi Caruso’s office and contact Rebecca Egolf at Regolf@fairmounttemple.org or 216-447-9539.
