Unlikely Friends: A Conversation with Bereaved Palestinian and Israeli Fathers

November 14, 2021
2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

This CWRU/Siegal College program, co-sponsored by Fairmount Temple, features Palestinian Bassam Aramin (right) and Israeli Rami Elhanan who both lost their young daughters to the conflict. As former co-directors of The Parents Circle, an Israeli-Palestinian organization of bereaved families, they seek a path of reconciliation. Irish-American writer Colum McCann, who wove their stories into his award-winning novel Apeirogon, will also be part of the conversation.  “In Apeirogon, McCann unfurls the story of two fathers, one Palestinian and one Israeli, who have both lost their daughters to the violence that surrounds them. Over the course of the day, these two men’s lives intertwine as they attempt to use their grief as a weapon for peace.” – Amazon book review
