New High Holidays Prayer Book Study Session

July 24, 2022
9:30 am - 10:30 am
Mishkan HaNefesh (Sanctuary of the Soul)
New High Holidays Prayer Book
We are introducing the Reform Movement’s machzor (High Holy Day prayer book), Mishkan HaNefesh, for our High Holy Days this year! Mishkan HaNefesh, which translates to Sanctuary of the Soul, reflects many trends in our movement, and in our world.  To help introduce our new prayer books, our clergy is presenting a series of virtual classes.
To RSVP for each or all of these virtual sessions via Zoom, reach out to Staci Cohen here.
Sunday, July 24, 9:30-10:30 am
Cantor Vladimir Lapin will introduce and help guide us through the creation of this machzor. Together, we will explore its liturgical innovations and listen to examples of some of the original music that has been created for the prayers.
Sunday, August 7, 9:30-10:30 am
Rabbi Elle Muhlbaum will explore some of the liturgical and contemporary poetry featured in Mishkan HaNefesh and dive into the beautiful themes of the High Holy Day season.
Sunday, August 21, 9:30-10:30 am
Rabbi Joshua Caruso will revisit many of the tried and true prayers (e.g., Avinu Malkenu and the Shofar Soundings) you will recognize from Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur worship, and see how the new prayer book accentuates and deepens their meaning for our day.
