YAC Tu B’Shevat Seder returns

Saturday, January 19, 6 p.m.

While it may still be winter in the United States, in Israel it is the middle of the Hebrew month of Shevat and the rainy season has ended. The fifteenth of Shevat is celebrated as the New Year for trees, Tu B'Shevat.  The Young Adult Chavurah celebrates this holiday with a Tu B’Shevat Seder that includes dinner and wine for a nominal fee.  If you would like to join in this celebration, call Holly Long at 216-464-1330, ext. 118 or HLong@fairmounttemple.org  for more information and to RSVP by January 15.

MLK Mitzvah Day, Monday, January 21 – 9:30 a.m.

This year’s program is a dynamic collaboration of interfaith communities working together on mitzvah projects, then having dialogue about prejudice following an inspirational one-woman show by rabbinical student Alysa Stanton, who will become the first African-American women rabbi when she is ordained next year.

YPC Dads and Kids Indoor Camp-out

Feb. 2 - 3

The good news is it's back; the better news is because it's winter, we're doing an indoor "camp-out. This popular even from last year is a great time for all dads and their kids (or grandpas and grandchildren!). Come be part of this fun overnight at Fairmount Temple.  There will be games, food and lots of fun. There won't be soggy sleeping bags or outdoor critters. Last year we enjoyed playing in the snow.  So if it's been the idea of outdoor camping which didn't appeal to you - now you and your kids can camp indoors!!! For families coming for the PJ Havdalah, just stay on for the Camp-out!  For more information on this Dads and Kids Weekend, Winter Edition, call Cathy Lipton at 216-464-1330, ext. 126.

Saturday, February 2, 6:30 - 8 p.m.

PJ Havdalah

Geared to families with preschoolers (whether they are your children or grandchildren!), children should come dressed in their favorite pajamas for the fun program which will include hot chocolate, story, singing and Havdalah.  There is no “paid” fee for this PJ Havdalah, instead admission is one NEW stuffed animal (per family) which will be donated to a child in need. This is always a popular Havdalah which fills up so make your reservations by January 28. Adults are also invited to don their favorite pjs for this fun evening!! To make reservations, contact Cathy Lipton at 216-464-1330, ext. 126 or Clipton@fairmounttemple.org.  PS – leave dad and kids behind after the Havdalah for the Indoor Camp-out! See top of page.

 KIDushat Shabbat

The fourth Friday of every month at 7 p.m.

An interactive, shorter service is especially inviting for families with preschool age children and grandchildren.

Young Adult Chavurah

Do you know young adults in their 20s and 30s who are looking for a warm and welcoming synagogue community?  Invite them to any of these wonderful opportunities at Fairmount Temple.  The Young People’s Congregation (YPC) is made up of young adults, singles and families with young children.  The Young Adult Chavurah (YAC) is a branch of YPC particularly inviting to young adults, single or married.  If you would like more information about these two active groups, please call Holly Long at 216-464-1330, ext. 118.

See our Calendar for a complete listing of Shabbat services.
