YOUNG PEOPLE'S CONGREGATION

See Upcoming Events

Fairmount Temple's Young People's Congregation (YPC) is an active and vital group of young adults, in their twenties and thirties.  We are singles, couples, and young families. YPC  strives to enrich the study, understanding and practice of liberal Judaism in an atmosphere of friendship and fellowship to assist all members in leading a meaningful Jewish life. Whether you attend a family social event, attend any of the variety of worship services, or volunteer  to help the needy through social action opportunities, YPC offers everyone a chance to get involved. YPC programs appeal to a variety of interests, giving everyone an opportunity to become involved.

Family Programs

  • KIDushat Shabbat - A 45-minute Shabbat service geared to young families with preschoolers.  It's very interactive, fun and a wonderful way, with cookies and crafts, to introduce the next generation to the joy and celebration of Shabbat. This service is on the fourth Friday of each month  at 7:00 p.m.
  • K'tonton Kraziness - This wonderful program, geared toward pre-schoolers, brings Jewish learning to life through engaging activities and creative play.
  • Special programming - From family game nights to breakfasts in the park, YPC coordinates a variety of special programming encouraging family fun and togetherness.

Young Adult Chavurah - For Singles and Couples in their 20s and 30s

  • Special programming - Throughout the year, a variety of programming offer young adults the opportunity to get to know others, and oneself, better -- from Torah study in one's home,  to a karaoke night at a favorite restaurant.

Social Action

  • Winter Toy Wrap - a yearly mitzvah in which we gather to wrap holiday presents for children-in-need.
  • Social Action - YPC supports and participates in a variety of programs coordinated through Fairmount Temple's Social Action committee, including the annual Mitzvah Day (click here for '05 wrap-up) and Harvest for Hunger. YPC has adopted the Jewish Big Brother Big Sister Association as a major focus of social action opportunities for the year and invites Bigs and their Littles to be our guests at some YPC events.

Come share the excitement with us!
