Affiliated with the World Union for Progressive Judaism, the Fairmount Temple
Sisterhood is deeply committed to the promotion and perpetuation of Reform
Judaism. It sponsors thought provoking educational programs along with
entertaining socials with a Jewish content.
Tuesday is Sisterhood Day at Fairmount Temple. Members meet for philanthropic
projects such as sewing clothing for inner-city residents and dolls for homeless
children, and creating ABC books for the blind. Lunch is served at noon and
is usually followed by a special program of entertainment, art or education.
Men are welcome to attend all functions.
Through dues and fund raisers, Sisterhood has made commitments to the
congregation including library awards, Chanukah candles distributed to children
in the Religious School and prayerbooks for confirmands.
On the Cleveland scene, Sisterhood participates in the President's Council of
the Women's Committee of the Jewish Community Federation. It also provides
assistance to the Shoes For Kids program.
