LEGACY SOCIETY
The concept of providing for the next generation is a classically Jewish
idea. In a famous midrash, an old man is seen planting a carob tree, which takes
70 years to bear fruit. When asked "Do you expect to eat the fruit of your
labors?" The old man replies "I did not find the world desolate
when I entered it, and as my father planted for me before I was born, so I plant
for those who come after me."
This midrash is a beautiful reminder of the opportunities we all have to
leave a lasting legacy of caring, commitment and devotion that will continue
after we are gone. The Legacy Society has been created to recognize the generous
members of Fairmount Temple who are supporting the congregation with a deferred
gift. Members in the Legacy Society include those who have named Fairmount
Temple in their Wills, make Fairmount Temple the beneficiary of their life
insurance policy or pension plan, or those who establish a charitable gift
annuity or charitable remainder trust with our congregation. As a member of the
Legacy Society, you will receive a special thank you gift, be invited to special
educational and recognition events.
It is not the amount you give to Fairmount Temple that makes you eligible for
the Legacy Society. Rather, it is the fact you have the commitment to help
provide for a strong and vital congregation for the generations of Anshe Chesed
families yet to come.
