YOM KIPPUR
Yom Kippur is the "day of atonement." This is the day
when we think about the things we did during the last year and ways we can be
more kind, thoughtful and helpful in the coming year. Many people attend
services at the temple. The Kol Nidre service, which is held when the
holiday begins, is one of the most beautiful services of the year. Many adults
fast (do not eat or drink) from sundown to sundown, so they may use all their
energy thinking of the past year and the year to come. Services are concluded at
the end of the holiday with the blowing of the shofar.
